NORDHOFF QUAD

Project Background:
Conceptual design through completed construction for the Nordhoff High central quad and gathering space that joins the active core of the campus between the cafeteria, library, administration, and classroom spaces. The quad was re-imagined, providing more opportunities and amenities to serve student gathering and informal classroom breakout spaces. Native shade trees, boulders for seating and water conserving plantings draw in the natural character of the surrounding Ojai Valley.

Scope of Work:
Project programming and visioning with District staff, Conceptual Design through PS&E for Division of State Architect approval, construction administration of hardscape, planting and irrigation, seating, and drainage.
Sustainability:
Subsurface, weather-based irrigation; use of permeable paving in student gathering spaces; native & low-water use, regionally adapted planting; preservation of heritage oaks with increased landscape area.
